About This Site

Creating Intarsia with the drum sander
Kentucky Artist

My name is Tracy Watkins.  I live and work in Nicholasville, KY. Some of you may know me from Stratton Lumber & Hardware. I actually get all of my Western Red Cedar there.  WRC is my go to wood because of all the various shades it offers.  You would think that working in a lumber yard all day would turn me away from working with wood as a hobby.  It doesn't, go figure.

The primary purpose of this site is to have my very own Art Gallery to display some of my work and hopefully sell a piece now and then.  Some tend to find these pieces fascinating, Some could care less.  (LOL)  If I make it and you like it I am flattered. If I make it and you buy it I am delighted.

Scroll Sawing for pleasure

I do this because I enjoy the art and try to advance my skills with each piece.  Nothing here is mass produced.  Some of the pieces have already been sold. If so, then I'm happy to make you another.  If you see something you like, let me know.  If you are looking for something special, I will be happy to give you a price and the approx. amount of time it will take to produce the project.

Intarsia Wood work

My prices are determined by the amount of effort and hours involved and the type of materials used in the project.  Local pine and cedar obviously will cost less than the exotic imports like Redheart or Leopard Wood.  I try to find  various colors and unusual grains in the wood to get the look I want.  I prefer this rather than using stains.  Stains would be easier but where's the art or fun in that.
